Colorado is a very challenging environment for string players. New instruments to the area need to gradually acclimate to our dry climate. Cracks and open seams are a common problem.
It is my recommendation to humidify the case that your instrument is in or the room in your house where the instrument is stored if you have a new instrument. If you have an instrument that has been in Colorado for awhile it is best to keep the humidity constant.
Remember that winter in Colorado is the driest time of the year. Take precautions with your instruments.
